Nicolette Groeneveld (on ISC's Superhero Day)
Nicolette taught Junior High French Immersion for
10 years. During that time, she was appreciated for
her sunny personality, how genuinely she cared about
her students and for the fact that she nurtured not
only her students' academic growth but also their
personal growth. Nicolette delighted in her students
but became increasingly disillusioned with a system
that, to her, holds too many contradictions, counters
what is natural in children and, ultimately, does
damage to children. Looking for a different career
path, Nicolette found the Sudbury Valley School's
website and immediately knew she had found the approach
to education that rings true to her heart. She spent
her next year working with co-founder, Ric, to create
the Indigo Sudbury Campus.
Nicolette's other accomplishments
include being a published author of two novels and
an accompanying activity guide; compiler and co-author
of a French poetry collection for adolescents; a passionate
public speaker; and an inspiration and guide to hundreds
of teenagers.
Nicolette is currently working on
a screenplay through which she hopes to awaken the
masses to the limitations of the public education
system.

Ric Rosborough (exploring a computer program)
Ric comes from a family with a rich history in public
education. He, himself, taught Junior and Senior High
for 18 years, priding himself on the fact that his
classrooms were filled with joy, passion, responsibility
and respect. However, as an out-of-the-box thinker
and one who thrives on variety, Ric was destined to
move from traditional education to the non-traditional
approach of the Sudbury philosophy.
Ric brings to ISC a history in sports
that includes: coaching multiple sports, riding motorcycles,
skiing (water and snow), snowboarding, enjoying snowmobiling
and hang gliding, and competing in high jump in the
Canada Summer Games and the Junior Olympics.
Ric is also passionate about exploring
the human condition and serving as a personal coach
to others. As a public speaker, workshop creator and
facilitator, he draws on many of his life experiences
including trips to India, Egypt and Mexico. He is
an avid reader and a member of The Association
For Global New Thought (A.G.N.T.)
http://www.agnt.org/, Deepak Chopra’s
Peace Is The Way Global Community
http://www.peaceisthewayglobalcommunity.org/ and
The Institute Of Noetic Scientists (I.O.N.S.)
http://www.noetic.org/
Ric is the father of two, has been
a Teen Group leader, and has been the creator and
member of a men’s group.
Ric’s passion is to be a catalyst
for gentle, graceful, easy learning and change through
facing the Truth (that Love is all there is) and feeling
the fear and doing “it” anyway. Ric knows
and lives the truth that says: “True forgiveness
of all and acceptance of what “IS” aids
in our transformation into wholeness.” His personal
philosophy of tolerance, acceptance and surrender
adds to the freedom and responsibility of the Sudbury
philosophy. This, and more, led Ric to be a Co-founder
of the Indigo Sudbury Campus.
